Cambodianess /PHNOM PENH – The high school exit examination began on August 28 with a total of 146,720 candidates registered for the exam. Among them, 106,042 are from the social science path and 40,678 are from the science path. According to the Ministry of Education, there are 241 exam centers nationwide, equivalent to 5,924 examination rooms. The social science path has 169 centers or 4,269 rooms, while the science path has 72 centers or 1,655 rooms. For candidates choosing the sciences path, their exam subjects include History (elective), Biology, Chemistry, Foreign Language, Khmer Literature, Physics, and Mathematics. Students in the social science path will take the tests in Earth and Environmental Science (elective), History, Geography, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Moral Education, and Khmer Literature. A total of 19,800 exam officials are participating in overseeing the examination process. Officers from the Anti-Corruption Unit also oversee the exam process to ensure transparency and fairness. For the conflict-affected Oddar Meanchey province, a total of 1,772 candidates are registered, comprising 1,014 females. They will take the exam at two centers located in Puok District, Siem Reap Province. The ministry provided stipends to them and other forms of assistance. Prime Minister Hun Manet wished all candidates the best of luck in achieving positive results through their actual abilities. “Those who are capable will pass,” he wrote on August 28. The exam runs through August 29, and the results are expected on September 20.
