The ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), led by the Head of Mission, arrived on May 17 in Banteay Meanchey province—more specifically in Chouk Chey village, O’Bei Choan Commune, O’Chrov District—for observation, verification and reporting on the situation along the Cambodian-Thai border.
In a Facebook post on May 17, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence, said that the Mission was coordinated by the Cambodian Liaison Group in the specific area where the Thai military had set up barbed-wire fences and brought shipping containers.
“The mission also evaluated compliance with and the implementation of all measures outlined in the Joint Statement since the ceasefire came into effect,” Socheata said in the post.
